How Many Yard Signs Does a Campaign Need?
Estimate yard signs from the places they will actually stand: one for each supporter who agrees to host a sign, plus signs for permitted high-traffic locations and events, plus spares to replace signs that go missing or get damaged. Signs come in packs of 10, from 10 for $150 to 50 for $750.
Step 1: Count confirmed hosts
Start with supporters who have said yes to a sign in their yard or business window. A yard sign in a real supporter's yard also acts as an endorsement to the neighbors, so these are the most valuable placements.
Step 2: Add permitted high-traffic spots
Busy corners, polling-place areas and campaign events add visibility, but many cities restrict signs on public right-of-way and near polling places. Check your local ordinance, and only count locations where signs are allowed.
Step 3: Add events and headquarters
Count signs for your campaign office, rallies, parades and volunteer drop-off points. For larger displays, a vinyl banner reads from much farther away: two 3′ × 6′ banners cost $90.
Step 4: Add spares
Signs get knocked over, damaged by weather or removed. Keep a reserve to replace them quickly, especially in the final weeks.
Turn the count into an order
| Signs | Price |
|---|---|
| 10 | $150 |
| 20 | $300 |
| 30 | $450 |
| 40 | $600 |
| 50 | $750 |
Each sign is 24″ × 18″ on 4mm Coroplast, printed full color on both sides, with H-wire stakes at no extra charge. Example: 28 confirmed hosts + 6 permitted corners + 4 for events + 4 spares = 42, so order 50.
