Printing for Dallas contractors, restaurants and offices
Dallas has the oldest housing stock of the four large Texas cities on this site and a large base of contractors who repair and replace what those homes wear out. That makes door hangers, seasonal postcards, yard signs and NCR work orders some of the most-ordered pieces here, alongside menus for the city's restaurants.
Dallas orders also have a shipping advantage. Our print hub is in Arlington, in the same metro area, so delivery costs less than to Austin, San Antonio or Houston.
What the housing data says about Dallas
The 2020-2024 American Community Survey puts the median year Dallas housing was built at 1981. Homes of that age have usually needed at least one new roof, air-conditioning system or water heater, which keeps contractors busy and gives their marketing a clear message.
The city has 533,915 households and 1,307,930 residents. Owner-occupied homes number 226,615, which is 42.4%, and 244,060 of 590,237 housing units are single-family detached homes, 41.3%.
So the owner-occupied, single-family neighborhoods are where repair and replacement mail pays off. Choose those carrier routes on the USPS EDDM map rather than mailing the whole city.
Dallas County trades by the numbers
County Business Patterns for 2023 shows how many employer establishments compete for the same customers in Dallas County:
- Contractors: 727 plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors and 243 roofing contractors. With that many competitors, a door hanger on the neighbors' doors the day of a job is often what separates one company from the rest. See roofing contractors and HVAC companies.
- Outdoor services: 497 landscaping services and 113 pest control services, both route businesses that grow street by street with door hangers.
- Restaurants: 2,092 full-service and 2,514 limited-service restaurants. Menus, table tents and EDDM menu mailers.
- Offices: 1,476 dental offices, 1,297 real estate offices and 1,248 insurance agencies. Postcards, business cards and brochures.
Owner-operators without employees are not counted, so the real number of competitors in each trade is higher.
Work orders and job-site printing
Contractors who write tickets on site use NCR forms, carbonless sets that make a customer copy and an office copy at once. Our 8.5″ × 11″ NCR forms come in 2, 3 or 4 parts with optional numbering, and 1,000 2-part sets cost $279.
A season of print for a Dallas HVAC company might be 10,000 6.5″ × 9″ EDDM postcards for a spring and a fall mailing, 2,500 3.5″ × 8.5″ door hangers and 1,000 NCR work orders. The printing total is $1,385.20 before shipping.
Menus for Dallas restaurants
Dallas County had 2,092 full-service and 2,514 limited-service restaurants in 2023. Take-out menus, table tents and mailed menus are the core of restaurant print here.
An 11″ × 17″ take-out menu holds a full menu and folds into a bag, 2,500 for $709. The Gold EDDM package mails an 8.5″ × 11″ bifold menu to every home in the delivery area, 10,000 for $679, and 4″ × 6″ table tents cost $695 for 2,500.
Cards, brochures and catalogs for Dallas offices
Dental offices, real estate brokerages and insurance agencies print more than mailers. Business cards are the everyday piece: 2,500 3.5″ × 2″ cards on 16pt stock cost $69. A trifold 8.5″ × 11″ brochure explains services or coverage, 2,500 for $349.
Businesses with a product line or a service menu too long for a brochure can use a saddle-stitched catalog. The 5.5″ × 8.5″ size starts at 2,500 for $749. See catalogs and brochures and menus.
Job-site signs for Dallas contractors
With hundreds of roofing and HVAC companies working the same neighborhoods, a sign in the front yard of every job tells the whole street who is doing the work. Our two-sided 24″ × 18″ Coroplast yard signs come with H-wire stakes, and 20 cost $300.
For a showroom, a trade show booth or the side of a warehouse, a vinyl banner reads from across a parking lot. Banners are priced at $5 per square foot, and the second banner is free.
