EDDM cost calculator: what will your mailing cost?

Enter how many households are on your carrier routes and pick a postcard size. The calculator finds the cheapest print quantity that covers every household, adds UPS shipping to your ZIP code, and adds USPS postage at the rate you enter, then shows the total and the cost per household.

How the EDDM cost is calculated

  1. Printing. Postcards print in quantities of 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 with buy-one-get-one pricing. The calculator uses whole 10,000-piece runs, then the cheapest mix of smaller quantities for the rest, so every household gets a piece.
  2. Shipping. UPS Ground from the nearest of our six U.S. print hubs to your ZIP code, priced by weight, the same way as the cart.
  3. Postage. Households × the USPS EDDM Retail rate you enter. You pay postage to USPS when you drop the bundles at the post office that serves your routes.
  4. Cost per household. The mailing total divided by the households on your routes.

How much does an EDDM mailing cost?

An EDDM mailing has three costs: printing, shipping the printed pieces to you, and USPS postage paid per piece when you drop the mailing off. Printing is priced in 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000-piece quantities; enter your household count above to see the printing and shipping for your routes, then add postage at the current USPS EDDM Retail rate.

What is the current EDDM postage rate?

USPS sets the EDDM Retail rate per piece and changes it from time to time, usually in January or July. Check the current rate on the USPS Every Door Direct Mail pages or at your post office, and type it into the calculator so the total is accurate.

How do I find the number of households on a route?

Open the USPS EDDM online tool, search your ZIP code and select carrier routes. Each route shows its residential and business delivery counts. Add up the routes you select and enter that number as households.

Why does the calculator print more pieces than I have households?

Printing comes in fixed quantities of 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000 pieces with buy-one-get-one pricing, so the cheapest way to cover your routes often leaves spare pieces. Use them for a second drop to the same routes, a handout at your counter, or a nearby route.

Does the price include design?

Only if you tick the design option. Otherwise the price assumes you supply a print-ready file.
