Phoenix printing from a Phoenix print hub
Phoenix is the one city on our list with its own print hub. Orders for Phoenix businesses are produced at our Phoenix, Arizona location and go out UPS Ground across town, with the same buy-one-get-one pricing we offer everywhere.
The city is a natural EDDM market. It is the largest place we cover, most homes are detached houses, and most households own them, so mail sent to every address on a route reaches decision makers for air conditioning, pest control, pools, landscaping and real estate.
We print EDDM postcards, door hangers, business cards, take-out menus, table tents, vinyl banners, yard signs, NCR forms and catalogs. The price table above uses ZIP 85004, and any product's price builder shows the delivered price for your ZIP.
Phoenix households in the Census count
The Census Bureau's survey for 2020-2024 puts Phoenix at 1,642,323 residents in 610,442 households. Owners occupy 350,001 of those homes, 57.3% of the total.
What that means for a mail plan:
- Detached houses: 390,242 of 653,065 housing units are single-family detached homes, 59.8%. Most routes are block after block of houses with their own yards, cooling systems and roofs to maintain.
- Housing age: the median Phoenix home was built in 1985. In a hot climate, cooling units, roofs, water heaters and plumbing from that era are reaching replacement age.
Phoenix is big enough that its neighborhoods have little in common. Choose carrier routes around your service area instead of mailing whole ZIP codes. A pool service in an older central neighborhood and a pest control company on the newer edge of town need very different maps.
The Phoenix trades that mail the most
County Business Patterns for 2023 counts employer businesses in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix and its neighboring cities. The counts are large, and so is the competition for each household's attention.

- Cooling, plumbing and heating: 1,604 contractors. Tune-up postcards in spring, emergency-service door hangers in summer. See HVAC companies and plumbers.
- Yard and pest care: 1,148 landscaping services and 369 pest control companies. Recurring-service offers sell well door to door. See lawn care and landscaping and pest control.
- Restaurants: 2,789 full-service and 3,860 limited-service locations. EDDM menu mailers for the delivery radius and table tents in the dining room. See restaurant printing.
- Offices and storefronts: 2,131 dental offices, 2,011 insurance agencies, 1,265 beauty salons, 1,028 general auto repair shops and 318 roofers, each a steady buyer of postcards and cards. See dental practices.
Only businesses that carry a payroll appear here, so solo operators are not counted.
Planning EDDM and door hangers in Phoenix
With EDDM, you pick carrier routes on the USPS map and every residential address on them gets your piece. There is no list to rent, and in a metro where people move in from other states all the time, a route never goes stale the way a purchased list does.
Door hangers work best early in the morning, before the afternoon heat, and on the streets around a job you just finished. Some master-planned communities limit flyers, so check the HOA rules first. Hang each piece on the door handle, not the mailbox, which is reserved for the Postal Service.
